Former Whiteville basketball star arrested

A former Whiteville high school basketball star is in trouble with the law.

Chris Wilcox now plays for the Seattle Sonics in the NBA.

He was arrested Saturday in Bladen County on two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

A man named Carlos Gathers was driving Wilcox’s car at the time, and was arrested for drinking and driving, and gun charges.

The two were taken to Bladen County jail, and released on a $500 secured bond.

Wilcox is hosting a youth basketball camp at Whiteville High School in a couple of weeks.
