Excitement today in Delgado trial

There was a bit of excitement in New Hanover County court today in the trial for Tyrone Delgado. He is accused of the murder and attempted sexual assault of FBI secretary Melissa Mooney.

Up until this point, Delgado has kept his cool in the courtroom, but today emotions ran high. When the prosecution brought in witness and ex-girlfriend Tracy Parker, the anger started to build. Parker dated Delgado for two years in the early 1990s, when they both lived in Seattle. Today she testified about an incident where Delgado kicked in her door and allegedly attacked her. That's when Delgado began yelling and calling her "a liar." Parker retaliated, using profanity, and insisting she was telling the truth. At that point, Judge Henry briefed both sides on appropriate conduct inside a courtroom.

The consequences for today's disruption? Judge Henry warned Parker she would be held in the contempt of court if another outburst were to happen and Delgado would lose his right to be present in the courtroom.

We'll keep you updated as the trial continues.
