Father’s Day Hoops at Brigade Boys Club
This is the third annual Father’s Day Basketball Classic. Coincidentally, it falls on the same day as the Boston-Los Angeles NBA championship game, but the children and fathers were not focused on the happenings at the Staples Center… Instead, this was all about being on the same court in Wilmington with dad at the Brigade Boys and Girls Club…. More importantly playing hoops against dad.
Skip Denny said: “it’s a marvelous thing to be a dad and to be able to play hoops on Father’s Day is the best thing you can do on this day.”
The Southeastern North Carolina Youth Basketball Association coordinates this event and the highlight of the day was the much anticipated game featuring fathers playing against their sons and daughters.
Without a doubt both teams were pretty dog on serious about this father’s day basketball. The fathers had to much pride to lose…. But they do have experience.. The sons and daughters had youth on their side…. And enthusiasm with One Tree Hill actor Vaughan Wilson leading the way with nationally known point guard skills. Oh yes, the sons and daughters won !!
