Local business celebrates Bastille Day
One local business is bringing France’s Bastille Day traditions to Wilmington.
Bastille Day is basically France’s independence day.
The South ‘n France store in downtown Wilmington specializes in hand-dipped chocolate bon bons, a traditional French candy.
To celebrate France’s independence from the king in 1789, the Wilmington store is treating some of their best customers to a 7 course meal tonight.
Owner Pascal Siegler said, “That’s why we make the revolution, because the king was leading a great life, with great food and great wine and the French people had nothing to eat or drink and we were not very happy so we took the power.”
France celebrates Bastille Day similar to how the United States celebrates Independence Day — with family, fireworks, and plenty of good food.
