Beating the Heat – The Fun Way
Eating ice cream is a summer pastime, especially on a hot day like Tuesday afternoon. There’s just something about Dairy Queen and a hot sweltering day that goes hand in hand.
Swimming in a pool is a great way to beat the heat as well. Youngsters at the William Murphy pool on 10th Street in Wilmington can vouch for that.
As good as the Murphy Pool feels, the water park at Jungle Rapids feels even better.
Perhaps it’s the leisurely feel of floating on top of an intertube or perhaps it’s the rushing water on top of your head. Actually the heat index in Wilmington reached 105 in some
locations and as much as Jeff Bouton likes the beach, he likes the
water theme park at Jungle Rapids better. Jeff said: “You don’t want to go to the beach, it’s a little too salty in the ocean, you just sit there and get sticky, and you don’t have sand here, when it’s 100 degrees this is the place to be.”
Refreshing may be the best word to describe this water paradise. There are plenty of opportunities for adventure and of course, every spot is perfect to soak up the sun.
