Police searching for man who pulled box cutter on bicyclist, stole bike

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for a man who they say pulled a box cutter on a cyclist in Wilmington, and then took off on his bicycle.

Wilmington police say it happened around 9 p.m. in the 800 block of Chestnut St.

The victim told police he was heading to a friend’s house on his bike when a man flagged him down.

He says the man then tried to sell him drugs. That’s when the man pulled a box cutter on the victim, holding it to his neck.

The suspect took off on the bicycle, which is a black cruiser with white writing, toward N. 8th Street.

The victim says he was a black male in his 30’s, about 5’8″ and 160-170 lbs. If you have any information on the suspect, call Wilmington police.
