Bike Ride Honors Fallen Fire Fighters

More than 400 fire fighters rode for fallen comrades on Saturday.

The Red Knights International Firefighters Motorcycle Club rode around Wilmington to honor firefighters killed during 9-11.

They started and ended at Britt Motor Sports on Market Street. Red Knight President Jack Jarvis said 9-11 is a painful memory, but it is also an important one.

“We want to make sure everybody remembers,” Jarvis said. “It was seven years ago and it kind of feels like the public is forgetting that our world changed seven years ago. So we want to remember the service the fire department does.”

More than 300 fire fighters died in the 9-11 attacks. Proceeds from the event will benefit the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center.
