Free dump week in Brunswick County

Have extra junk laying around?

Brunswick county solid waste crews are giving residents a chance to get rid of their garbage for free.

It is called Free Dump Week and starting this Monday through Saturday, all Brunswick County residents can dump household garbage at the county landfill off Galloway Road. Regular household trash will be accepted.

After tropical storm Hanna’s winds broke off several tree limbs in area neighborhoods, county leaders decided to let people drop off yard debris at the landfill without the $22.50 tipping fee.

Stephanie Lewis of Brunswick County operations services said, “So they can continue to bring their storm debris and it will also include other normally accepted materials but it is free to county residents.”

Free Dump Week ends September 20th. Also on the 20th, the county will host a free collection of hazardous and electronic waste at the Wal-mart in Southport from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
