ONLY ON 3: Electrocution victim’s family speaks out
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — On Monday morning 2 men, James Williams and Manuel Melendez Flores were electrocuted in a Wilmington work accident.
Now the daughters of Flores are speaking out about their father and how this accident is affecting their family.
“My dad was a great man,” said Laura Williams, Flores’ daughter.
Perla Melendez, Flores’ daughter, said she never thought something like this would ever happen to her family.
“You always see stuff on the news and it happening but you never think it would happen to you,” said Melendez.
The news was heartbreaking for the entire family.
“When my sister told me, like I couldn’t believe it. Because I’m so young, you know, like I’m only 17. I would have never thought that I would lose my dad so young or my mom would lose him,” Melendez said.
Flores’ daughters describe him as a hardworking man, willing to do anything for his family.
“He got up everyday, and go to work, and provide for his family, his wife, his daughters his grandchild,” said Williams.
Now, the girls say they just have to be strong.
“We’ve never been stronger. Our family has never been stronger than this, coming together because of him,” Melendez said.
They will always have all the wonderful memories they have with their father to remember.
