NC school cleared in test investigation

LAURINBURG — A North Carolina school board says a report that examined whether its administrators tried to help students on national tests is flawed.

The Fayetteville Observer reported Tuesday the Scotland County Board of Education released a rebuttal that said investigators were “chasing leads from a small group of disgruntled employees.”

It also said investigators worded the report in a biased manner, despite being unable to find evidence of wrongdoing.

Raleigh-based Risk Management Associates Inc. alleged in its report that at least 115 Scotland High students were removed from the rolls of some classes and put into nonexistent classes to improve test scores.

The North Carolina Board of Education, which asked for the report, has cleared the administrators of wrongdoing.
