Gas prices in Wilmington remain slightly below average per gallon

The average price for regular gasoline in North Carolina remained at around $4.08 a gallon today, but the price of gas in the Wilmington area is up.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular in our area $3.96 yesterday, and overnight that average jumped two cents to $3.98.

It is still one of the lowest averages in the state.

AAA said that two cent increase was probably due to anticipation of higher costs for upcoming gasoline shipments. The high prices are taking a toll on drivers.

Linda Hicks, a concerned resident said, “I think it’s really horrible and I think they should do something about it right now. I’m carpooling because I can’t afford the gas to go where I gotta go.”

Some good news, AAA said oil refineries along the Gulf of Mexico are going back online and the gas supply should be increasing soon. That could lead to lower gas prices in about a week.
