Man shot in the face during armed robbery
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man was shot in the face during an armed robbery at his home off Ilex Drive last night.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says shortly after 8:00 Monday night, they responded to a call for 1st degree burglary and armed robbery.
According to Lieutenant Jerry Brewer, Edward Costanza said he heard a knock at the door and looked through the door window to see a black male and a white female. As he was opening the door one of the suspects shot through the door hitting Costanza in the face. The suspects then entered the home demanding the victims wallet and tied him up with a phone cord.
The suspects ran from the house. Neighbors said they saw a grey Toyota Camry parked next to the home which left shortly after hearing the gun shot.
The suspects are a black male, 6’4″ with a square haircut, and a white female mid 20’s blond, 5’4″ 135 lbs wearing a beige or grey hoodie.
