Suspect charged in cold case rape

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for crimes that happened 17 years ago.

Paul Lee Oxendine is charged with attempted first degree rape, first degree sexual offense and breaking and entering.

The Sheriff’s Office and SBI used DNA evidence to solve the cold case from 1996.

Oxendine is in the Bladen County Jail under a $500,000 bond.
