Fayetteville soldier stabbed to death

The husband of a Fayetteville soldier found stabbed to death near her home has been arrested in connection to her death.

Sgt. Richard Smith was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Eighteen-year-old Matthew Kvapil, a private first class is also facing charges. Police said Richard Smith hired Kvapil to attack Sgt. Christina Smith as the couple walked together Tuesday night.

Smith initially told police a random attacker stabbed his wife in the neck.
