Fire in the Pines Festival is this weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The importance of taking care of our forests is the focus of the 2nd Annual Fire in the Pines Festival taking place Saturday at Wilmington’s Halyburton Park.

A demonstration of a prescribed burn will be kicked off with WWAY Meteorologist Gabrielle Deabler while vendors offer food and activities for the whole family.

Fire trucks, a helicopter, crafts, live music and much more will welcome you to the park in advance of special guest Smokey the Bear.

Also look for live animals, a raptor show and a scavenger hunt to keep kids busy and having fun.
