RC Soles Investigation Update

In September, State Senator RC Soles was confronted during a campaign stop about rumors that he was the subject of a federal investigation. There is now evidence that such an investigation may in fact be going on.

A Tabor City woman said she has been subpoenaed to testify before a federal grand jury in Raleigh regarding an investigation surrounding Senator Soles.

The woman showed WWAY a copy of the summons she said she received from an FBI agent, and said she is scheduled to testify after the election. She said the FBI has asked her to testify about money the Senator Soles campaign allegedly paid to a poll worker.

She declined our request for an on camera interview and asked not to be identified, because she has been asked not to talk about the details of the case.

Senator Soles’ name is not mentioned on the summons. This woman is the third person who has told us they have testified, or were going to testify in an FBI investigation regarding Senator Soles, but she is the first who has shown us any paperwork to support that.

Senator Soles previously told us he had no knowledge of any federal investigation surrounding him. He has not returned our calls for comment since we obtained a copy of this subpoena.
