National Boss’s Day
Thursday is National Boss’s Day, a day for employees to show their appreciation for the one in charge. It was a day to honor your fearless leader.
So why not show some love to the one who signs your paycheck. “I hadn’t really thought about it, but we’re good to her all the time,” said Mary Ann Kester of Pink Pig Café.
Sarah Harnden thought about getting her boss a card. “There were some funny ones. ‘Oh you’re the best boss ever’. It was kind of funny. I had no idea about boss day until I saw those cards.”
People said a good boss is someone who is caring, understanding, and a good listener. This is much better than a boss who is inconsistent, a bad listener, and not good at what they do.
Boss’s day originated in Deerfield, Illnois in 1958. An employee at State Farm Insurance had the idea, and chose the date because it was her father’s birthday. Her father also happened to be her boss.
