UNC Wilmington adds to programs

UNC Wilmington announced a new professorship Thursday and it is worth over $1 million.

Chancellor Rosemary Depaolo introduced the Dan Cameron Family Foundation Professorship of Innovation. This will permanently fund a new professor’s position in the Public and International Affairs Department.

The professor will teach students about how to be leaders in the nonprofit sector. Community organizations said it is important to strengthen the college and community partnership now.

”Non-profits are often the unseen, or invisible, or third sector of our economy, and yet in this day and age the needs are increasing dramatically,” said Community Foundation Executive Director Stephen Dillon.

Bill Cameron was on hand to represent the Cameron family. He said he hopes the professorship will help the university reach its goal of linking with nonprofit organizations in the Wilmington community.
