Deputies: Man jumps from moving car, breaks into home with axe

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of breaking into a home. But they said that’s not the only thing he did.

Deputies said Tyler Nathaniel Turner, 18, broke into a home in the 1900 block of Highway 53 overnight Tuesday. Deputies said he kicked in the front door, took an axe and busted through the victim’s bedroom door. The victim, an elderly woman, was not hurt.

Deputies said Turner had been in an earlier confrontation with someone and jumped from a moving car on I-40. No word on what the fight was about but Turner was treated at an area hospital.

Turner is now facing charges including first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. He was put in jail under a $330,000 bond.
