Wilmington Box Company expanding

It was a tough day on Wall Street, but we do have an economic glimmer of hope on the local scale tonight.

Wilmington Box Company is expanding and moving to Burgaw.

The corrugated box company was based out of Wilmington, but started growing out of their building. They will be moving to the old Ullman building in the Burgaw industrial park, and hopes to open up to 30 new jobs for area residents.

The company was in need of extra space and allows more access to crucial Pender County accounts.

Mayor of Burgaw Pete Cowan said, “We are very fortunate to have a building that fit their needs. It’s a clean industry that we look for, and it’s a great day for Burgaw and Pender County.”

The company will begin renovations on the building, and hope to open its doors by late June.
