Edgar Allan Poe comes to life

Some middle school students got a visit from a post-mortem poet Thursday.

St. Marks School English teacher, Susanne Pirkey, dressed from head to toe like Edgar Allen Poe. In the spirit of Halloween, Pirkey put on a top hat, tails, and a mustache to bring the poet to life.

The curriculum focused on creative writing, and telling spooky stories.

Mrs. Pirkey, she’s an exciting teacher and she has a very big personality, and I think her costume, it just shows who she is,” said Julia Maguire, a 6th grader at St. Marks.

Students say the costume helped them get in to learning about Poe. They also watched a video on Poe’s life.
