Local Obama and McCain campaigns make final push for voters

As the country votes tonight, both the local Obama and McCain campaigns are making a final push to get voters to the polls.

“We are out making calls, knocking on doors – probably 120,000 calls out of this victory 2008 office,” said New Hanover County Republican Party Chairman, Chris Dean.

Dean’s office has been working hard these final hours of the election season. He is confident John McCain will win. “It’s a very close race. John McCain is a good closer. If you’ve seen the polls have tightened up. It’s anybody’s race and we believe John McCain is going to pull through,” said Dean.

The Obama campaign held a special meeting with supporters, prepping them to go door-to-door, encouraging registered Democrats to vote now.

“I feel really good about this. This is a day that I thought I would never see in history,” said Wilmington resident, J.C. Brown.

Brown is one of the volunteers going door-to-door for Barack Obama. North Carolina is a key to this year’s election. Historically, it is a Republican state, but that could change this time around. Something we have not seen since 1976.

Obama volunteers are working around the clock and offering rides to the polls to make that happen.

All roads lead to the polls Tuesday night as the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign urge their supporters to make them the President of the United States.
