Man updated to serious condition after garbage truck accident

A Wilmington man has been upgraded to serious condition Monday after he was struck by a garbage truck on Sunday morning.

David Jensen is still at New Hanover County Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Jensen was driving northbound on Floral Parkway yesterday when a garbage truck ran a red on Oleander, and hit his vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation.

“Naturally with a vehicle weighing a lot more, serious injury is greater, and we need to make sure that we keep that under control,” said M.K. Piner, a Wilmington police officer.

The garbage truck driver was not injured. No charges have been filed yet.
