WPD: Man charged after stroll with shotgun


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A felon is facing charges after Wilmington Police said he was stopped by officers walking through the streets armed.

Police said around 9:30 p.m. they received reports of a man walking down Swann Street with a shotgun. When officers arrived they said they saw a woman running from the area and told the man to put the weapon down. The man, Omega Harold Blue, told officers he had other weapons at his home and allowed them to search the residence. Police said they found drugs and drug paraphernalia there as well.

Blue, 61, is facing charges including possession of a firearm by a felon, go armed to the terror of the people and possession of heroin, according to jail logs. He was booked in jail under a $150,000 bond.
