Makenzi Henderson named Anchor of the Year in Carolinas

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — WWAY News Anchor Makenzi Henderson received top honors this weekend for her on-air work.

Henderson won TV News Anchor of the Year from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas. Henderson won second place for Best Anchor from RTDNAC in 2013.

It was one of four awards WWAY won at the annual RTDNAC/AP Awards at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord Saturday.

The station won second place in the Best Newscast category in North Carolina from the Associated Press, along with second place for News Website from RTDNAC. Hannah Patrick was the second place winner for RTDNAC’s TV News Multimedia Journalist of the Year.
