Operation Christmas Child accepting donations to those in extreme poverty

It is about time to start thinking about holiday gifts. And while you’re out shopping for your kids, it would be nice to pick up something for those less fortunate.

Operation Christmas Child is a national program that encourages people to donate gifts to children living in extreme poverty. Things like clothing, socks, toys, and school supplies are all good gifts.

Southside Baptist Church is collecting those items and hopes to fill thousands of boxes this year.

Lisa Boyd from Operation Christmas Child said, “The children who will be getting these gifts have absolutely nothing. So a simple toothbrush in a shoebox can mean so much to somebody.”

The boxes will go to children in third world countries, orphanages, and other needy organizations.

You still have time if you want to donate, the program ends on November 24th.
