Woodbury Wellness Center chef to retire after 35 years
At Woodbury Wellness Center, Chef Richard Wilson is known for serving up good food and a few laughs, too. “I tell them that were going to have this, that and the other; then I give them Kool-aid and a moon pie,” he said
It is that wacky humor Woodsbury staff and residents will miss most. After 35 years as a certified chef, Wilson is hanging up his apron at the end of the month.
“I want to allow others the opportunity to move into this field. I feel like I’ve done petty much what I can do in the area and get to re-know my family,” said Wilson.
Melva Henderson, a resident of the Woodbury Wellness Center said, “He’s a wonderful person, a wonderful chef, and he’s a good comedian. He loves people, and people love him.”
“He’s going to be greatly missed. We’re going to miss working with him,” said Lisa Croom, Woodbury’s Activities Director.
Chef Richard said he will miss them, too. “We’re not talking just coming in here for a few hours a day and walking out and going home. This place goes home with you, and it stays with you 365 days a year,” he said.
Chef Richard retires November 30th. He plans to spend his retirement traveling and spending time with his family.
