Memorial service for the victim of fatal crash on Cape Fear bridge
Monday, family and friends gathered to remember the pregnant mother, killed in Wednesday’s accident on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
A flatbed truck flipped over the bridges center guard rail, hitting the Tahoe Myia Shepard was riding in. She died at the scene.
Family members tell us Shepard had 3 young sons, and was seven months pregnant – expecting a little girl. The father of the baby was behind the wheel when the accident happened. The two were engaged to be married.
Family members said they will remember Shepard’s bright spirit. “She had a wonderful personality, she was spiritual. She was loving, warm, kind of person that when you met, you never forgot her. She left that impression,” said Felicia Toomer, Myia’s future sister-in-law.
Also in the car was the driver’s four year old son, Jalin. He was released from Wake Forest Medical Center Sunday night.
