Rouzer to seek 2nd term in US House

WILMINGTON, NC (AP) — Freshman U.S. Rep. David Rouzer of North Carolina’s 7th District plans to seek a second term in Congress next year.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports that Rouzer said Thursday that he will run again.

The Republican lawmaker says he wants to continue working with shore communities on various coastal issues including beach renourishment and inlet dredging.

Rouzer is a former state legislator and lobbyist who lives in McGee’s Crossroads. He captured more than 58 percent of the vote in defeating Democrat Jonathan Barfield Jr. and a third-party candidate last year.

The 7th District stretches through eastern North Carolina from Johnson County down to the coast to the South Carolina state line.
