Sex offender charged after arrest at elementary school

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A registered sex offender is facing charges after being on a school premises.

Joseph Ryan Crone, 34, of Akron, Ohio was arrested yesterday afternoon at Bolivia Elementary School. According to jail records he was booked under a $25,000 bond. Deputies said he was on the campus with his girlfriend, who has a child there.

Crone was convicted in Ohio in 2009 on charges of corruption of a minor/sexual motivation. At the date of offense he was 27 and his victim was 16.
