Woman charged with promoting prostitution of teen

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County woman was arrested overnight in connection with a prostitution investigation in Wilmington.

Lt. Jerry Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said Kasi Lynn Smith, 25, was helping a 17-year-old prostitute by putting photos online. Brewer said the investigation centered around the Super 8 motel on Market Street.

Smith was picked up by deputies at the Budgetel on Market Street. She is facing two charges of promote prostitution of a minor, and being held in jail under a $250,000 bond.
