Rescheduled Riverfest impacts vendors
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Riverfest is here and earlier today some folks were out setting up for a weekend of food and festivities on the Cape fear River. The festival was postponed due to inclement weather and that has had an impact on some of the vendors who come out every year.
“We had our first year in 1984,” said Diane Martin. She operates several food stands and said Wilmington and Riverfest are always on her schedule for the year. “We’re probably the longest running food vendors here.”
Bad weather and flooding pushed the festival back from October to November and that meant a change of plans for Martin.
“We’ve had to move stuff around several times because we were all set to come here and everything was purchased and prepared and so forth and so on that we have to do to get our trucks ready and things like that. So we’ve had a lot of regrouping to do,” Martin, said.
The postponement changed what they were able to bring this year.
“We’ve tried to scale back some,” said Martin.
She adds that she is excited about the weekend ahead and hopes that the good weather continues throughout the weekend.
