2 NC teens held after Klan-like hoods displayed

HIGH POINT — Two teens are being held by police after a school custodian found white, Klan-like hoods displayed at a North Carolina high school.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported Monday that police were holding the 16-year-old students from High Point Central High School. High Point Police Capt. Tony Hamrick said charges hadn’t been determined.

Police didn’t release the students’ names.

Hamrick said the white, vinyl hoods had holes cut in them and that three were hung near the school bus parking lot and one was hung from the school flag pole. The hoods were found about 5:30 a.m.

The investigator said there have been no racial issues at the school recently and called it “an irresponsible prank.”
