Sex offender wanted in four states arrested in New Hanover Co.

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators in New Hanover County say tips from the community about a suspicious person targeting minors in Carolina Beach led to the arrest of a sex offender wanted in several other states.

Detectives say after several days of investigation, they identified the man as Orlando Dewitt, 40. They say they discovered Dewitt was wanted in four other states for multiple sex offenses, including first-degree sexual assault of a child and sex offense against a minor female.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies found Dewitt today in Wilmington and took him into custody.  He is in jail under $100,000 bond charged felony failure to register as a sex offender.
