FIRST ON 3: Wilmington massage therapist facing sexual battery charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police said a male massage therapist is facing charges after an incident involving a client.

Police said Joey Lee Diaz II was arrested at the Massage Envy in Mayfaire Town Center on November 21 after a client said she was touched inappropriately. Diaz was charged with sexual battery and later bonded out of jail.

A spokeswoman from Massage Envy released the following statement:

“Massage Envy and its franchisees take any allegation of inappropriate conduct very seriously.  Our Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy requires that any allegation of inappropriate conduct will be fully investigated by the franchisee, and the therapist involved is suspended during the pending investigation.  If it is determined that a Zero Tolerance Offense has occurred, the therapist will be restricted from being employed by any Massage Envy franchised locations.”
