Driver cited in crash involving school bus

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Troopers with the Highway Patrol said the driver accused of pulling out in front of a school bus, causing a wreck, has been cited.

Troopers said Jillian Semrau was at a stop sign at the intersection of US 421 and Malpass Corner Road around 3:30 p.m. when she pulled out in front of a bus carrying students from Malpass Corner Elementary School. Three students and the bus driver were transported to the hospital with minor injuries following the incident. A third vehicle was involved in the crash after the car hit the bus and spun into traffic, troopers said.

Semrau was cited with failing to yield at a stop sign.

The students were treated and released last night.
