Time Warner and Viacom reach an agreement
Thanks to some late night negotiations, Time Warner Cable customers were able to ring in the New Year with Sponge Bob and Jon Stewart.
Those were among the programs threatened to be pulled off the air by Viacom if the company could not reach a new agreement with Time Warner.
Executives worked through midnight. Viacom wants a fee increase for the 19 channels Time Warner carries, including MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon.
The details of the agreement have not been released yet, but Viacom officials said the new deal should cost about twenty-three cents per customer.
