Ex-firefighter pleads guilty in child sex sting
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (StarNews) — A former Leland firefighter pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexual assault charges stemming from online conversations he had with Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office detectives posing as young girls.
Brian David Saltsgaver, 49, of 1763 Liz Lane in Leland pleaded guilty to indecent liberties with a minor and second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. In exchange for the plea, nine counts of felony dissemination of obscenity and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor were dismissed.
Judge Ola Lewis sentenced Saltsgaver to 15 to 27 months in prison. She also ordered that he undergo sex-offender treatment and register as a sex offender for 30 years.
