Crash near Isabel Holmes turns into gun arrest
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police said a man is facing several charges after rolling his vehicle in an overnight crash. Some of the charges, however, aren’t from the crash itself.
Police said around 3:45 a.m. Grant Everett Robbins, 26, was driving from the Isabel Holmes Bridge to the MLK Parkway when he flipped his vehicle. Robbins was able to get out of the vehicle and when police arrived, they said they saw a handgun in the flipped car. Police said Robbins told them it was an airsoft gun, but when he was searched a second, loaded handgun was found on his ankle.
Robbins is facing several charges including possession of a firearm by a felon.
