Sheriff Air One locates lost girl Saturday night

What could have been a long, frigid night had a warm ending for a girl and her dog thanks to New Hanover County’s law enforcement chopper.

Just before 8:30 Saturday night, the girl called 9-1-1. She was lost in the woods off Plantation Road in northern New Hanover County.

The sheriff’s helicopter, Sheriff Air One, responded to the call and found her in about 20 minutes. She was treated and released on scene.
