McIntyre meets with local leaders about revitalizing economy
Lowering unemployment rates and revitalizing our economy was Topic A for Congressman Mike McIntyre as he visited Friday with local community leaders.
McIntyre held the conference at Brunswick Community College to get feedback from business owners about their economic concerns, and bring that information back to Washington. The idea is to help determine what areas of industry will get a piece of the proposed stimulus package.
“We’ve been hearing a lot from Wall Street, from the big boys and the big three in Detroit, and I wanted to make sure that we’re hearing form the people back in Main Street, our coastal and rural communities,” said Congressman McIntyre.
McIntyre chairs the rural economic sub-committee. He said coastal and rural areas were not originally included in the economic stimulus package. The congressman said his sub-committee had that changed as of Thursday.
