Trial for Wilmington police officer delayed

The trial of a Wilmington police officer will not start until February.

Wotzvely Albert Perez was supposed to be tried Monday, but the case was continued because neither side was prepared for trial.

Perez is charged with assault on a female and sexual battery in connection to an alleged on-duty incident that happened December 23rd.

Perez became a member of the Wilmington Police Department in September 2006.
