Shoppers make some final purchases before Christmas

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Christmas is quickly approaching and that means shoppers are running out of time to check those final gifts off their list.

Linda and Marty Dudek were out at the Independence Mall Wednesday night.

“We’re basically finishing the last minute Christmas shopping,” said Marty Dudek. “We bought some items for both her and I and our kids.”

But this trip to the mall wasn’t so easy for the Dudeks.

“Probably one of the worst things is a lot of people are out, so the traffic has been pretty hectic, right here in Wilmington,” said Marty Dudek.

Tanner Gill was also out shopping for family. He said he expected a lot of people to be out so close to Christmas.

“There are a lot of lines, there’s a lot of congestion,“ said Gill. “I had to weave my way in and out, trying to get some last minute shopping done so we are all in the same boat.”

Gill said he said this is just part of shopping so close to Christmas.

“It’s down to last minute but it’s just kind of what it is right now,” said Gill.

Gill and the Dudek both agree dealing with all that comes with last minute shopping is worth it.

“As soon as you see the smile on their faces, and see them open their presents, it was all worth it,” said Gill.
