International fuel company purchases a terminal in Wilmington

An international fuel company plans to open a regional distribution terminal in Wilmington.

Vopak North America recently purchased a terminal here in the port area that previously belonged to Exxon Mobil.

A spokesman for Vopak said the company is looking into adding enough storage space for one million more barrels of fuel. The spokesman said he is not sure when the company will make a final decision on when to more forward.

Vopak is based in the Netherlands and is the world’s largest independent tank terminal operator.
