Students talking economy at Virgo
Our sinking economy is not only affecting adults, but kids too. In Wilmington, student’s at D.C Virgo Middle School expressed how they feel about the recession.
Our country’s battle with layoffs and foreclosures is a hot topic in the media and inside Paul Boreaux 8th grade social studies class.
Thirteen-year-old Micheal Goeloe said, “I think it will get better because he’s going to make a change Barack Obama. He’s going to make things right.”
The students’ concerns are just like adults’, leery of the country’s financial woes. Some of them admit the nations cutbacks they learn about in the classroom, are showing up at home.
Bethaya Marbley said, “Maybe not going out as much and not buying much stuff.”
Although our economy is bad now, some say these kids are learning a good lesson to take them in to adulthood.
Experts say talking with your children about the economy could teach them the value of budgeting and saving money.
