It was a Super Sunday for many local Steelers fans
Super Bowl 43 has its champion. The Pittsburgh Steelers rallied to beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 last night. WWAY’s John Rendleman, attended a colorful Steelers tailgate party that moved inside once the game started.
Breaktime Billiards in Wilmington is the home for the Pittsburgh Steelers Wilmington Fan Club, but the get-together actually started out in the parking lot with a tailgating party.
“When the Steelers play football, this place is packed with proud, loud and enthusiastic Steelers fans. During the regular season, and of course, Super Bowl Sunday,” said Steelers fan, Jim Lieberman.
The fans are part of Steelers nation, even though it is Wilmington it felt like Pittsburgh, or you could say Steelers Country.
One thing that was obvious when you looked at the crowd – everybody was wearing black and gold, and a lot of them brought something terrible with them to Breaktime Billiards on Sunday. Terrible in a good sense, a Terrible Towel. It is arguably the best-known fan symbol of any major pro sports team.
Once the game started Sunday night, it was all business for Pittsburgh on the field and one huge party for these Wilmington Steelers fans, who literally had a super seat to watch their favorite NFL team win one for the other thumb.
