DOT: Contractor ‘recognizes’ flooding issue with new Brunswick River bridge

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A newly-constructed bridge that’s part of the Causeway Project is having flooding issues.

In the past week, there have been reports of flooded lanes on the Brunswick River bridge heading into west into Brunswick County. Last night, digital signs were also displaced alerted drivers to possible high water on the bridge.

According to a DOT spokesman, the contractor said improvements have been made to the drainage. He also said the flooding is due to the construction process and has nothing do to with the height of the bridge and the river.
