Suspect identified in Sunday shooting


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police have released more information in the shooting that happened about a half-hour after a deadly shooting.

The shooting was reported before 7 p.m. in the area of S. 11th and Castle streets. Police said Cedric Alden Burnett, 19, shot a gun in the area and ran from the scene. He was caught in the area of 1100-block of Wooster Street. No injuries or damage were reported.

A man was shot and killed around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Stewart Circle and Emory Street. Police have not linked the two incidents.

Burnett is facing several charges including possession of a firearm by a felon and interference with electronic monitoring devices.

He’s being held under a $560,000 bond, according to jail records.
