Early morning fire hits Lakeside Village Apartments

Some Wilmington families are looking for a place to stay after an early-morning fire at their apartment complex.

The 911 call came in just after 4:30 Monday morning after someone noticed a fire at the Lakeside Village Apartments. That is on Lapaloma Court off Oleander Drive.

Dispatchers said the fire started in a second-floor apartment and that the Red Cross was called in to help the families affected.

Police on the scene tell us everyone got out of the building safely.
