Police: Death investigation likely a suicide

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Officers with the Wrightsville Police Department are investigating the death of a man found on the beach.

Police said around noon, officers received a call from a possible suicidal person. The body of a white male in his 50s was found at Access 2 on the strand near the Johnnie Mercer’s Pier.

Police said the man died from a single gunshot.
